Individual Therapy for Adults
Working with adults, I integrate approaches informed by attachment theory, interpersonal neurobiology, trauma research, and polyvagal theory.
The primary modality I use is:
IFS (Internal Family Systems) – We are all made of multitudes. IFS is an approach that offers shared language to explore different ‘parts’ of yourself—parts that may hold pain, tension, or protective roles. Together, we can work to understand these parts and help them heal, allowing you to feel more whole, more present, and more at peace.
Additionally, my approach is somatic, which means we will pay close attention to the sensations and feelings in your body, as they are often key to unlocking emotional well-being and healing from trauma.
*Please note that I do not offer couples therapy or family therapy at this time
We may be a particularly good fit for therapy if…
You are 20+ years old
You have a trauma or complex trauma history, or wonder if you do
You are struggling with one or many of the following concerns:
PTSD or C-PTSD
anxiety
dissociation
childhood emotional neglect
emotions that feel really big, out of control, or scary
feeling emotionally detached/disconnected
hiding your emotions from others or even yourself
feeling stuck with distressing and unprocessed past experiences, especially relational experiences
family-of-origin issues
grief
Perhaps you identify as a big/deep feeler, highly sensitive, introverted, or easily overwhelmed, though this is not a hard requirement in order for us to work together but rather a vignette of the types of clients I am most experienced with.
You are open to or interested in exploring your family-of-origin and childhood experiences and dynamics and how they may connect with the here-and-now.
You are looking for more depth-oriented work rather than strictly mental health tips/tools/advice.
You are willing or curious to try an approach that is more exploratory, process-driven, creative, and experiential in nature, and less directive and cognitive.
